Settling In

It's a process, but we are slowly settling in.  It seems like we've been groomed for this.  We've moved so much, and had bigger spaces to work with, as well as, smaller spaces to work with.  I'm not sure if it's the circular space, or the fact that we designed the yurts before building, but it feels like this space is far more functional than others!  Every single, little space is usable.  As you can see, in the picture of our kitchen area, even square things fit nicely around the circle.  There was some dead space at the end of the counter, that Matt  split in half to make a pantry, in the kitchen, and towel shelves in the bathroom.

I don't know about you, but once the organizational stage starts happening, things start to feel more real.  It's like, "okay ... now I can start to breathe a little.  There's a space for this ... it belongs here ... I belong here!"  We have makeshift counters currently, but the plan is to make custom, concrete counter tops where the sink is located, and to the right of the stove.  There were plans for an island, but I'm currently really liking the open space.  We will see!

I've been showing a lot of pictures of the inside of the yurts, but haven't talked a lot about the outside.  We are 20 acres of open, rolling hills.  We have some wooded areas along the boundary of the property, with just enough maple trees to get us some syrup this Spring!  Today was absolutely picturesque, with the sun shining and the untouched snow, in the fields, glimmering.  I didn't think to get a picture, but am hoping we get another day , like today, to take a picture tomorrow.  The yurts are set back on the property.  We are about 700 ft from the road, so our driveway is a bit of a nightmare, but it makes for a good walk!

As with anything, "all good things must come to an end."  My girls bedtime means I better stop writing and start adulting.  The former is more fun!

Until next time ...
