Welcome to our blog! We would like to introduce ourselves! We are Matt and Sarah; parents to three beautiful girls 9 and under.
Due to health issues we have chosen a more "unconventional" way to live and raise our family. We embarked on our Yurt Homestead Journey just over three years ago when Matt broke ground and started laying the foundation for our home!
Instead of constructing on the usual raised wooden deck. We decided on a concrete floor with in-floor heat, sourced by an outdoor, wood-burning furnace. We also have two yurts (20' and 30') that are connected by a hallway. This was a conscious decision to help minimize mold growth underneath the deck.
We moved in on January 6th, 2023 after the inspector gave us the okay! Full disclosure: Our Yurt Home is, by no means, off grid, but it is certainly unconventional!
We have hopes and dreams of homesteading and providing our sweet family a more self-sustaining lifestyle. It has been a dream of ours for several years, and having to give up our farmette (due to mold issues) four years ago was extremely devastating! We are excited for a fresh start and to settle down in one place for awhile!
We hope to create a space that is welcoming and inviting, a place where you can feel comfortable exploring along with us on our journey to self discovery, healing, and finding peace within this crazy life God has given us.
