Aside from my lack of ability to blog properly, things are going ... okay. We've been super busy dealing with sick kids, non-committal plumbers, sleepless nights, and sheer exhaustion! All that to say, we are nearing the end of the building process! We still have a long way to go to get the yurts looking exactly how we want them, but we are close to being able to move in! Thank God! We've done a lot of waiting, dealt with a lot of upsets, re-figured, re-calculated, re-evaluated, and are really ready to be done! We are all, collectively, holding our breath until the day we can start moving into our yurts! Our girls are really ready for more routine, and we are looking forward to a little more room to organize, and feel like the space we are living in is really our own.
For those of you new here (which is all of you since I've just started doing this and then ended up deleting the only successful blog post I've actually created) we have been living in my in-laws two room cabin for a little over a year now. We moved out of our third home, because I, apparently, can't live in anything built more than a few years ago. I've been struggling with mold illness for quite a long time and it has really wreaked havoc on my body! In an effort to feel more human again, and have the energy to properly care for the three, beautiful girls God has given me and my husband, Matt, we decided we needed to build new. My body needs a fighting chance to heal. Yurts weren't our first choice. We bounced around a few different ideas, but kept coming back to the Yurt idea for two major reasons: 1) There is nowhere for mold to hide, and 2) it's what we can afford. We were gifted 20 acres from Matt's parents, and really wanted to get on that property (and out of this crowded cabin that is too small for our sweet family of five), so we can start homesteading, and quite honestly, get on with our lives! (Did I mention that the cabin only has a composting toilet, and a 4 gallon water heater, with only a tub and no shower? Oh ... and the bathroom is not heated! I can't wait to shower in my own home again)!
Anyway, I'm hoping to get better at blogging, and figure out this platform that is SUPER confusing! If you'd like to stick around, hopefully I can give you some fun, adventurous stories to read!
Until next time ...
